ABOUT US

Wildlife At Home began in 2002 as a wildlife gardening website, centred around our own project in our relatively small garden in suburban Nottinghamshire. We moved into our house and inherited a very plain, and decidedly wildlife-unfriendly garden. With little gardening experience at the time,we set out to transform the bare expanse of lawn and concrete into a haven for all kinds of wildlife, such as this Nuthatch(left) | ![]() |
| When planting,we have tried to select only native species, whenever possible,to attract as many different species of wildlife as possible.Ornamental and cultivated varieties may look nice, but may have no real value to wildlife. This beautiful butterfly, the Holly Blue, is pictured (right)laying eggs in the Ivy growing on our fence. | ![]() |
Over the last few years,we have constantly added to our garden, gradually transforming it from the bare patch that we found when we moved in,into something that has so much to offer to wildlife. We have managed to squeeze around 20 native tree species into our garden, all carefully chosen to add height and structure, from Alder to Oak,and Hazel to Hawthorn. |
